The origin of the traditional Chikankari dates back 400 years during the Mughal era. Chikankari is a form of embroidery that involves different 36 types of stitches, the prominent ones being the Jaali, Murri, Tepchi, Bakhia, Hool, Zanzeera, Phanda, Rahet, Khatua, and Keel Kangan. Chikankari craftsmen toil for days and nights for weeks to comeup with a beautiful piece of garment that is elegant, neat and yet stunning.
